サンタ ローザ農園は約10年前、現オーナーのラウル氏の父とその兄弟によって設立されました。当初は松の木の輸出を目的としていましたが、木が輸出可能な大きさに成長するまで約10年かかることから、空いた土地を活用し、エルサルバドル原産のパカマラ種を植え始めたことが、コーヒー生産のきっかけとなりました。

農園のある地域は、内戦時にゲリラの潜伏地だったことから、インフラ・経済・文化の発展が遅れ、長らく手つかずの土地が多く残っていたため、パカマラの生育に適した環境となっていました。現在では、試験的に育てている苗木を除けば、農園の大部分がパカマラで構成されています。

このパカマラによって、サンタ ローザ農園はエルサルバドル屈指の名門農園とされ、過去にはCOE（カップ・オブ・エクセレンス）で数々の受賞歴を誇ります。特に2014年、2017年、2019年には優勝を果たしています。

また、ラウル氏はチャラテナンゴ地区の生産者組合の代表も務めており、近隣農家へのプロセス支援や技術指導にも積極的に取り組み、地域社会への貢献にも力を入れています。Qグレーダーの資格を持ち、アメリカ留学の経験から英語も堪能で、国内外問わずグローバルな活躍を続けています。

Finca Santa Rosa was established about ten years ago by the father and uncle of the current owner, Raul. Initially, the farm was created for pine tree cultivation intended for export. However, since the trees would take about a decade to mature, they began planting Pacamara—a variety native to El Salvador—in the unused areas of the farm.

The region where the farm is located had long been untouched due to its history as a guerrilla hideout during the civil war. As a result, the lack of development in infrastructure, economy, and culture created a natural and favorable environment for cultivating Pacamara. Today, apart from a few experimental seedlings, the farm is almost entirely planted with this variety.

Thanks to its exceptional Pacamara, Santa Rosa has become one of the most acclaimed farms in El Salvador. It has received numerous awards in the Cup of Excellence (COE), including first-place wins in 2014, 2017, and 2019.

Raul also serves as the leader of a producers’ cooperative in the Chalatenango region, offering processing support and agronomic guidance to neighboring farms. He actively contributes to the local community. With a Q Grader license and a background studying in the United States, Raul is fluent in English and continues to make an impact both domestically and internationally.
